We finance the stadium, not the striker

A new vertical. The same model.

Sport is an infrastructure business wearing a jersey. Behind every club and every league sit assets that look exactly like the ones MIG has financed for a decade: a stadium with a thirty-year life and contracted revenue from naming rights, hospitality and the lease to its tenant; a training centre and academy; the pitches, the car parks and the land under them; the arena the city needs and cannot fund. MIG’s Sports & Entertainment vertical applies our bond structures to those assets.

What we do — and do not do.

We do not buy or sell players, take positions in sporting results or finance transfer fees. We finance long-life sports and entertainment infrastructure against its contracted cash flows: stadium and arena construction or refurbishment, training facilities, mixed-use development around a venue, and the acquisition of such assets. The credit is the contract — the lease to the club, the municipality’s availability payment, the sponsor’s naming-rights agreement — and the structure is the MIGCorp Bond™: a dedicated vehicle, verified collateral, enhancement, a rating, and a trustee controlling the money.

Why it fits.

A stadium lease is a transmission-line PPA with better catering. Both are long-dated, both are with an identifiable counterparty whose credit can be assessed, both can be discounted and placed. The difference is that sport has historically been financed by owners’ balance sheets and bank relationships rather than by the capital markets — which means the opportunity to bring investment-grade structure to it is large.

Where we are.

This vertical is new. MIG has spent 2026 preparing it — the asset classes, the counterparties, the structures — and launches it in 2027, building from North America and Europe outward with our network across the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Africa. We are strengthening the team with specialist advisory capability for the sector. There is no case study on this page yet; there will be.

What we look for.

Clubs, leagues, municipalities and developers with a venue to build, refurbish or acquire; a tenant or sponsor contract that can anchor the financing; and the willingness to structure it properly. Projects may qualify for financing through the MIGCorp Bond™.

Segments

What we invest in.

Venues & infrastructure

Stadiums, arenas, training centres and mixed-use entertainment districts: new builds, redevelopments and modernisation, financed and held for the long term.

Franchises & clubs

Equity positions in professional clubs and leagues, alongside owners and management teams who want a long-term, operationally engaged partner.

Media & rights

Broadcast, streaming and commercial rights, and the businesses that produce and distribute live sport and entertainment content.

Sports technology

Ticketing, venue operations, fan engagement, performance analytics and the digital platforms that link venues, teams and audiences.

Approach

How we invest.

  • Equity with involvement. We take meaningful stakes and work with management on strategy, capital planning and operations — not passive allocations.
  • Structured finance. Venue and infrastructure projects above USD 100 million may qualify for financing through the MIGCorp Bond™, issued through a dedicated special purpose vehicle.
  • Long horizon. Our ownership through Levante Foundation lets us hold through cycles, with no fund term forcing an early exit.
  • Local partners. In every market we work with established operators, rights-holders and local sponsors.
